Re: My 2016 projects

I cut down a damaged 3" case to a tad under 26" to use for a TRA Research record attempt. I had a few dinged up parts and enough stuff laying around and came up with the following... http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm307/tfish38/26inch.jpg nothing real special just your basic compact 3&...

Re: Sugar Rocket Motor Mods

See...somebody already has been playing around with long burn sugar motors. That looks totally doable as a DIY home project. Keep us posted on how it goes!

Re: Sugar Rocket Motor Mods

The propellants physical properties must be up to the task of not cracking and holding together during the burn. A quick google search of brittle sugar motors will show some issue with some sugar formulas and being brittle. I believe this is why they use various sugars to avoid being brittle. I did ...

Re: Sugar Rocket Motor Mods

I've never played with Sugar..only AP. I really doubt your get a 10 second burn. I'd be surprised is you could get 4 seconds. There are a few things to keep in mind. As you add in this dry powder in what ever %..let's say 4% just to have a number. That 4% is a very fine and dry material. It's going ...

some static tests

I was able to get out a few weeks ago and do some testing. I was playing around with various nozzle materials and case temps. All four motors were 54mm with 9.3" of propellant. The first 2 motors had 3 grains while the last 2 had 2 long grains to accommodate the erosive phenolic nozzle material...

Re: My 2016 projects

Yep, doubled up .125" G10. Trying to clean-up the area (metal wise) for the radio stuff. The eggfinder is mounted to the ebay lid with it's GPS antenna facing away from the althread. The bottom half of my ebay (Tx location) sits down in the carbon airframe until apogee. Ground testing so far ha...
