Here's a few tools I have and the stories behind them!

First up is my South Bend 13" X 6' Bed.

I managed to find this lathe for $700. I picked it up (it weighs ~2000 lbs) and brought it home and it has been my work horse ever since! Grabbed a 1 HP motor and a 3-jaw for $150, added a few bits here and there and now it can do cases up to 42" long and bulkheads and nozzles over 6" in diameter!

For scale, the piece in it in the picture is 3" diameter by 29" long, being turned into some 3" bulkheads!

Next up is my 4x6 horizontal band saw!

This saw was $10! Needed a new pivot rod, a new blade, and a new belt. All in I have $50 and 2 hours invested. Saves my arm when cutting large diameter stock!

Next up is my Sprunger 14" bandsaw!

This saw is a significant upgrade over my previous 12" Craftsman. Ready to go after buying it for $60...

How about a drill press?

Found this drill press for $25 with a broken motor. Took the motor off my old Craftsman band saw and put it on this drill...voila! I plan to add a counterweight for the table that goes down the pole so that the table can be moved with one hand and will never slam down after loosening the bolt.
