Centuri Fireflash

Postby mikemech » Sat Jan 02, 2016 10:44 pm

I picked up a box of rockets at a yard sale a while back and it included a Centuri Fireflash from the 1970's (KM-5 / 5305). The bag was opened but it seems to have all of the parts, but no instructions. Jim-Z has the kit listed as 'posted' but when I click on the icon I get a 404 error.
Does anyone else have a scan of the instructions? The kit seems fairly complex and I would rather not foul-up a classic like this.

That is not the 'droid I'm looking for. But it looks interesting. I stashed it in my "One of these days" file. Thanks.

I downloaded these from JimZ a while ago. I just put them on Google Drive; hopefully this link will let you access them.

But when I download, they are mostly illegible. I'll play with them awhile. Maybe get lucky.

Well, the GIFs are thumbnails, not really much use. And the TIFFs come out as negatives on my Chromebook but look fine on my Mac.

I combined the TIFFs into a PDF:

Unfortunately (for anyone wanting to clone it) there is no scale for the fin pattern, nor is the balsa thickness given. Mike, maybe you could supply that information?

Fireflash Fin set.pdf

I also combined the TIFFs into a PDF. Perfectly legible.
The fins are 1/16" cardboard. I made a 1/1 PDF scan.

As soon as I figure out how to post an attachment I will put it here.

The attachment showed up fine here.

Nice find! That's a unique design, hope you enjoy building it!

Have you considered a build thread here? I doubt there are too many of these left in circulation, may be cool to memorialize it with pictures!
