My 2016 projects

Postby tfish » Thu Feb 04, 2016 2:27 pm

Not really a build thread just what I'm working on.

3" min dia. A friend of mine Richard passed away recently and before he did he gave me a bunch of "real" rocket parts (I always scrounge or make most of my stuff) and told me to build a rocket from them. I told him I would and I was going to call the rocket Don't be a Dick!" I working towards flying this on a AT 75/7850 research moon burner.

38mm min dia...just because I've not really have made a good one..

Another contributor! Thanks for sharing, Tony...those look great.

It's funny that both of us have lathes with sufficient length to make cases...and yet we both buy cases!

Both the above motors were given to me.
yes, I hate turning down motor tube OD's. But sometimes they just don't make motor cases long enough.

That's pretty awesome. You certainly put them to good use!

I'm really impressed with that 76mm tube. That thing is gorgeous.

Yep, doubled up .125" G10. Trying to clean-up the area (metal wise) for the radio stuff. The eggfinder is mounted to the ebay lid with it's GPS antenna facing away from the althread. The bottom half of my ebay (Tx location) sits down in the carbon airframe until apogee. Ground testing so far has been good. I was even able to get 1/3 mile (laying on the ground in my neighborhood) out of my cheap Tx. I also played around with a rubber ducky and a home made 1/2 wave antenna on the eggfinder. I got about 300 feet better then the Ducky and my home made antenna is a lot more flexable.

I've also been looking at and playing around with Jim Jarvis method of deployment http://www.rocketryfiles.com/files/Tech ... t_2013.pdf

Good idea. I have some true 1/4" thick G10 I'd be more than happy to cut and send to you.
